15 Awesome Helicopter Tours

You can do just about anything if you have a helicopter. For most people, owning a helicopter seems a bit ridiculous - not us! Here we have a little list of our favorite things to do with a helicopter that you’ve probably never thought of before.

1. Heli Fishing

We’ve all had dreams of fishing the untouched waters in the peace and quiet only offered by remote destinations. The only way to truly achieve this in this day and age is to fly out.  If it starts to rain… just fly away. If the fish aren’t biting… find a new spot in the area - other side of a mountain, or perhaps even on the mountain itself.

2. Glacier Lunch & Romantic Beach Picnic

Lunch takes on a whole new meaning when you are eating it from one of the most beautiful places on earth. You won’t find any cafeterias with sweaty lunch ladies named Olga serving piles of mushy mac and cheese. But anything you eat in this amazing setting will seem like a gourmet meal.

3. Hiking

Some of the greatest hiking in the world can only be accessed by helicopter. For example, if you want to go hike with some mountain goats, this is basically a taxi ride right up the mountain. Scratch that, this is like the Lincoln Towncar of the sky. Even if you’re not into hiking, you can still pretend like you climbed up a huge mountain (just don’t snap any pictures with a helicopter in the background).

4. Whale Watching & Bear Watching

Fly to Killer Whales. These creatures love to play and it is an amazing sight to see them breach. And who wouldn’t want to see some bears while they’re at it? Sure, you might see a bear rummaging through your garbage now and then, but take this chance to observe one of natures greatest creatures in their natural habitat. They’re kind of cute (from afar).

5. Weddings

For those that enjoy a little peace and quiet and are frightened by the thought of hundreds of family members, caterers, bands and decorations. Try a remote and peaceful and adventurous wedding that you will hopefully remember as the beginning of a peaceful and adventurous marriage. Leave the in-laws behind. It might be your only chance!

6. Back Flips

Oh hi! It’s the Redbull helicopter doing some backflips. No big deal.

7. Heli Rafting

Whitewater rafting is exciting, but you haven’t lived until you have flown to one of the most pristine rivers and rafted where only a handful of people have been before. You don’t need to have any specific level of expertise in rafting, there are multiple classes of waters ranging from easy to hard (class 2 to class 5). That said, you should probably hang on tight to your raft.

8. Heli Massage

Nothing could be more relaxing than a massage on the top of the world. The noises you hear are not coming from a boombox playing peaceful sounds in the spa, instead it is coming from a powerful waterfall. Some would say it’s nirvana. You could get a wide variety of massages in a wide variety of places - how does a Swedish massage on some snowy mountains sound? Or a deep tissue massage overlooking a waterfall? It’s all possible, the helicopter is just a perk!

9. Heli Yoga

If you enjoy Yoga in a hot sweaty studio, then you must certainly try it alone in the wilderness with all the room in the world to practice. Done all your stretches? Hop back in the helicopter and enjoy the relaxed vibe as you take in all the organic scenery. You might enjoy a breath of fresh air and the 30,000 square mile playground and engage in some creative new activities.

10. Heli Skiing

Skiing is for the adventurous. Heli Skiing is for the uber adventurous: those who are bored with the groomed runs of the overcrowded mountain resorts. If you are an adventure junkie and love to ski, you will get a kick out of the mounds of virgin powder and uncharted downhill paths, with your helicopter following behind you.

11. Hawaii Sight Seeing

See Hawaii like you never have before. Check out some of the rarely seen surf spots, schools of fish in the crystal clear water, and fly over massive volcanos. Hawaii hosts a bunch of sightseeing tours from the sky, and we gotta admit to being a little jealous of the location. Tropical atmosphere, wildly unique fish, and some of the nicest beaches in the world. Not to mention some of the friendliest locals in the United States. Go island hopping via helicopter and see different plantations, learn about some of the Hawaiian history, and enjoy a nice long, relaxing day.

12. Heli Surfing

Some of the greatest waves on earth crash in the most remote places. No need to worry about rowdy locals or annoying tourists, this is just between you and the waves. Bring your board and your wetsuit and get some private surfing in at top spots around the world. Tow-in surfing became popular in the 90’s, an innovative way to surf by getting a helicopter to tow surfers into breaking waves. A good way to catch up to a bigger wave that was otherwise too fast paced for a surfer to catch just by paddling out with their arms. Some famous locations for tow-in surfing include Hawaii, Ireland, Mexico, Tahiti, Brazil, and South Africa.

13. Heli Golf

Feel free to offer up all the expletives you like, your Country Club is miles away. You won’t exactly find a PGA tour running on these custom courses, but you might feel like you’re getting the Tiger Woods treatment. A common problem most golf fanatics are faced with is dealing with roads and traffic while power-golfing their way from course to course. Why should you have to wait? Hop in the helicopter and fly express, directly to the golf courses you’d like to play on. At the end of the day you’ll be tired from all the golfing, but you won’t be able to wipe that smile off of your face as you fly home from a satisfying round of golf.

14. Yacht Tender

You thought the only way to get to the middle of the ocean was to sail. What happens on a private yacht stays on a private yatch. Right? Sip on fine wines as you float on the ocean, eat gourmet catered meals, and unwind. Your helicopter can land you on the shore for a hike, and return you back to the yacht (or wherever you want to go) at your request.

Absolutely awe-inspiring. From the wildlife to the views everything looks cooler from a helicopter. The most luxurious way to take an African Safari is no doubt from the comfort of a private chopper. Just be glad you don’t have to walk across miles of deserts looking for an oasis. Finding one from a helicopter is way easier.
