Heli-Rafting

Heli-RaftingHeli-Rafting: A BC Coast Range River & Mountain Safari

If creating memories that exceed your expectations is to your liking, and you want to go where only a handful of people have ever rafted, this is the trip for you. We combine coastal lodge luxury with alpine experiences and world class river adventures. This trip allows you to raft the river, kayak salt water, fish for salmon and trout, and Heli-hike the flanks of B.C.’s highest mountain.

No previous experience is required. Each day an A-Star helicopter will fly your group to a section of the Klina Klini river where your guides will be waiting to take you through Class 2 to Class 5 water, challenging your spirit and stamina to complete this remote, wild river in four days.

Over these four days, you will descend through 2200 feet of riven, ending up at the head of Knight Inlet. At the end of each day your private helicopter will take you back to Nimmo Bay for a great feast of the finest, freshest foods. The warm hands of a massage therapist, a sleep that is reserved only for the deserving, and a flight of fantasy are your rewards at the end of the day.

Fly to Mt. Waddington, BC’s highest peak, swim in alpine lakes, and hike and dine in magical places where few have gone before. Walk on glaciers, view wildlife and take in everything a majestic glacial river has to offer. This is home to moose, grizzly and black bear, wolverine, cougar and eagles. At day’s end your magic carpet is there to whisk you over the horizon to your new home by the edge of the sea, right at the foot of mile-high Mt. Stephens.

Your guides are professional river rafters who have crafted this river safari. They have strong backgrounds in geology, history and anthropology and are trained in wilderness First Aid. The owners of Nimmo Bay and ROAM pioneered this trip in 1997 with a first descent of this mighty, melting glacier. This is fun for the whole family. Kids from 8 to 78 have been on this adventure. Our combined safety records are impeccable. All the necessary gear is supplied. All we need is you—for 4 days and 4 nights.

We are committed to the preservation of B.C.’s delicate wilderness habitat. Our goal is to immerse our guests in B.C.’s vast natural beauty, which in turn supports eco-tourism as a viable, economic choice. Everything that comes in, goes out. There is “no trace” of us and our guests.

Transportation to Port Hardy is your responsibility. Commercial flights are available through Pacific Coastal Airlines at Vancouver Airport, which we can arrange for you. Private jets can pre-clear Canadian Customs by calling 1-800-CANPASS and fly direct to Port Hardy (YZT) on northern Vancouver Island.

Plan now to reserve one of these limited trips for 2008. There are only 3, 4 day/4 night dates for groups of 6, 12, and 18 people. Trip dates are June 26th, July 3rd and July 10th.
