Our season runs from May 1st to October 31st, and while we’re not afraid of inclement weather, some of our activities are more suitable during certain times of the year. To ensure you have the opportunity to create great memories, here are some suggested dates of the best time to visit:
At Nimmo Bay, we practice catch and release using single barbless hooks. Guests are invited to fly or spin fish, whichever you’re most comfortable with.
Trout fishing is available throughout our season if you’re looking for Rainbow, Cutthroat, or Dolly Varden char. If you’d like to catch one of the big steelhead trout, it’s best to book your stay between May 1st and June 5th, or between August 10th and October 31st.
Salmon fishing is in abundance in our region. Chinook salmon season at Nimmo Bay runs from July 20th until October 31st, with Coho available August 1st to October 31st. Pinks are available July 18th to August 30th.
We are currently working to protect the juvenile Wild Pacific Salmon from sea lice, which thrive on farmed salmon. Unfortunately, in its current configuration, farmed salmon are a threat to our wild juvenile salmon, as the farms are located on the migratory routes of the baby salmon. We are working with both federal and provincial governments, the tourism industry, environmental coalitions, and first nations to help change how salmon are farmed on this coast so we can preserve our existing wild salmon stocks. Public opinion and our environmental initiatives will hopefully help keep our Wild Pacific Salmon alive and healthy, and we thank you for helping us make a difference.
You may have seen them on TV, but you can’t truly appreciate the wonder of nature until you’ve seen it in person. Enjoy nature firsthand; bears fishing in a stream, whales bubble-netting their lunch, or sea lions barking and basking as they lay on the rocks.
Bears are part of Nimmo Bay year-round, and you might see evidence of them while you’re hiking the trails or heli-touring the forest. We have black bear tours from May 1st to October 31st and Grizzly Bear excursions from September 1st to October 31st.
The creatures of the sea have been part of the aboriginal community since time immemorial, and you can experience them for yourself at Nimmo Bay. We have Killer whale and Humpback whale outings from July 1st to October 31st, and sea lions can be seen from May 1st to October 31st.
No matter when you visit, we invite you to try kayaking, boating, paddle boarding, or hiking, or join us for a photography sightseeing journey.
If you’re planning a wedding, we are available for you between May 1st and September 30th.
Our Heli-Fishing, Heli-Adventures, and Wilderness and Wildlife packages are available May 1st to October 31st.
